The Lunchbox Movie Trailer

Ritesh Batra’s ‘The Lunchbox’, revolves around a middle-class home maker Ila (Nimrat Kaur), who is desperately trying to add zing to her stale marriage by cooking differently for her neglectful husband.

However, she is unaware of the fact that the lunchbox she is preparing for her husband is mistakenly delivered to a stranger named Saajan (Irrfan Khan), an old man on the verge of retirement. When no reaction reaches Ila from her ‘husband’, she writes a note next day and packs it with the lunchbox in the hope of unravelling the mystery.

And then begins a series of note exchanges between Ila and Saajan, and soon the mundane starts getting magical as the strangers become friends and eventually, lovers.

Ila and Saajan seek emotional refuge in each other to escape the maddening pace of Mumbai city life that often kills hopes and dreams.‘The Lunchbox’ has been declared a winner among the critics at the Cannes Film festival 2013. The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Saajan’s office colleague.
