The Aurangzeb actor’s absence from his father Boney Kapoor’s lavish birthday celebration for wife Sri last weekend has raised eyebrows…
Sridevi turned 50 this year (August 13) and to bring in the gorgeous actor’s milestone birthday, loving husband Boney Kapoor hosted a lavish soiree at Club Alibii, Colaba(Mumbai) on August 16. Decked in a floral Prabal Gurung ensemble, the birthday girl looked svelte and stunning, with her elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor by her side. Boney personally invited B-town friends and colleagues Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Anupam Kher, Rakesh Roshan, Hema Malini, Juhi Chawla, Fardeen Khan, Riteish and his wife Genelia D’Souza, Sohail Khan, Satish Kaushik and cricketer Yuvraj Singh, among others.
The fond husband, we are told, played the perfect host and personally attended to guests who turned up to wish their – and ours too! – favourite actor. But the absence of a certain young male Kapoor at the royal gathering raised eyebrows. Hmmm… you guessed right! While Boney, his brothers Anil Kapoor and wife Sunita and Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep, and his daughters Jhanvi and Khushi posed like a ‘picture perfect’ family for the shutterbugs, the gathered media and guests were amazed at son Arjun Kapoor’s absence.
Our chirpy buddy present at the grand celebration told us that Arjun was in town that night, but chose not to attend the party hosted by his dad. “I guess Arjun isn’t very cordial with Sridevi and so he decided to give the party a miss. At this year’s IIFA awards ceremony he was present at the red carpet area, but entered only after Boney and Sri walked in. It seems he’s trying his best to avoid being spotted together with them.” Hmmmm….
There have been rumours about Arjun playing the protagonist in his father’s production Mr India 2 with Sridevi and chacha Anil Kapoor, but if he doesn’t wish to be even seen with the Hawa Hawaai actor in the same frame, then we really wonder how he will share screen space with her in the sequel. Oops, we forgot… if he’s playing Mr India, then obviously he shouldn’t be worried about being seen with the English Vinglish star – after all, the lead of the super-successful film did his best work while invisible!
